The Bishop
The four false prophets who imprisoned a god and killed the last lamb.
The Four Bishops—Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura—are the primary antagonists of Cult of the Lamb. They are the rulers of the Old Faith who imprisoned the deity Narinder (also known as The One Who Waits) and sacrificed the last lamb at the game's opening. Each bishop governs one of the four regions and must be defeated in a crusade to break the chains holding The One Who Waits. They are described as false prophets and are directly responsible for the Lamb's execution. Shamura, the final bishop, reveals that Narinder was their brother and the Fifth Bishop of Death, who was imprisoned after betraying the others.

Lore & Background
The Four Bishops—Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura—once ruled the Old Faith alongside their brother Narinder, the Fifth Bishop of Death. According to Shamura, Narinder grew ambitious and discontent with his role, leading him to betray the other bishops. Shamura, blinded by love, tried to help Narinder by teaching him ideas of change, but those teachings were 'most unnatural' for him. Ultimately, the four bishops imprisoned Narinder in chains, and he became known as The One Who Waits. Millennia later, the bishops brought the last lamb before them and sacrificed it. After the Lamb is resurrected by The One Who Waits, it is tasked with defeating each bishop to free the imprisoned deity. Each bishop's death breaks one of the four chains holding The One Who Waits. Shamura warns the Lamb that Narinder will come for them once all bishops are dead.
In Their Own Story
The Lamb is brought before the Four Bishops of the Old Faith and sacrificed. Upon dying, the Lamb meets The One Who Waits, who gives them a demonic crown and resurrects them with the mission to start a cult and defeat the bishops. The Lamb embarks on crusades into four regions, each housing one bishop: Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura. During these crusades, the bishops and The One Who Waits speak to the Lamb. As each bishop falls, one chain binding The One Who Waits breaks. Before the final battle with Shamura, Shamura reveals that The One Who Waits is named Narinder, their brother and equal, who was imprisoned for betraying the Old Faith. Shamura warns that Narinder will come for the Lamb once all bishops are dead. After Shamura's defeat, The One Who Waits instructs the Lamb to return the crown and be sacrificed. The player can choose to accept (ending the game with the Lamb's death) or refuse, triggering a final battle against Narinder.
Reader's Guide
The Four Bishops are the campaign bosses of Cult of the Lamb, each guarding one of the game's four regions. To progress, the player must defeat Leshy, Heket, Kallamar, and Shamura in order. Each bishop's defeat breaks one of the four chains holding The One Who Waits. After all four are defeated, the Lamb must face The One Who Waits (Narinder) himself. In the postgame, the Lamb encounters the Merchant of Eternity, who asks the player to face the bishops again and release them into the afterlife. For each freed bishop, the entity reveals the past of the gods. Upon resurrecting all bishops, the entity gives a statue or a follower to the Lamb. The bishops do not join the cult; they are defeated and later released in the postgame content.
